A state legislator proposed a ban on taxpayer-funded, out-of-state travel Wednesday in light of some New York lawmakers' plans to charge the state for their trip to a conference in Orlando, Fla.
"What they've come to be are expensive vacations at taxpayer expense," Assemblyman Michael Nozzolio, a Seneca County Republican, said of such conferences.
Two dozen state legislators plan to attend at least part of the annual meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures that begins Saturday in Orlando. On Sunday, legislators will be treated to a free day at Disney World's Epcot Center.
